Knitted poncho with cables and lace pattern



Size: S/M - L/XL - XXL /XXXL
Materials:350-400-450 g white

CIRCULAR NEEDLE (80 and 40 cm) SIZE 6 mm - or size needed to get 14 sts x 14 rows in A.2 = 10 x 10 cm. Pattern A.1 + 2 sts K measures approx. 5 cm in width and A.3 + 4 sts K measures approx. 13 cm in width

GARTER ST (in the round on circular needle):
1 ridge = * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*.

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A-4. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS. X.1 and X.2 show dec in A.2 and A.4.

PONCHO:
Worked in the round from bottom up. Cast on 196-236-268 sts on circular needle size 6 mm (80 cm) with Paris. Work 3 ridges in garter st - see explanation above. Then work as follows: * A.1 (= 10 sts), K 1, A.2A (= 2 sts), A.2B over the next 28-38-46 sts, A.2C (= 2 sts), K 2, A.3 (= 18 sts), K 2, A.4A (= 2 sts), A.4B over the next 28-38-46 sts, A.4C (= 2 sts), K 1 *, repeat from *-* 2 times in total. Continue the pattern like this. When piece measures 8-10-12 cm (adjust so that next round is 3rd or 7th round in A.2/A.4), dec 2 sts at beg of every A.2 and 2 sts at the end of every A.4 – see X.1 and X.2, dec 8 sts in total on round. Repeat dec every 4-3-2½ cm 9-13-16 more times (10-14-17 times in total) = 116-124-132 sts on needle. Switch to a shorter circular needle when needed. Continue pattern until piece measures 48-52-56 cm. Work 3 ridges over all sts while AT THE SAME TIME on 1st round dec 20 sts evenly = 96-104-112 sts. Cast off, piece measures approx. 50-54-58 cm.
