Knitted jacket with crochet edges




Size: 3/4 - 5/6 - 7/8 - 9/10 - 11/12 years
Size in cm: 98/104 - 110/116 - 122/128 - 134/140 - 146/152
Materials:250-300-300-350-400 g colour off white
50-50-50-50-50 g colour off white

STRAIGHT NEEDLES SIZE 9 mm - or size needed to get 10 sts x 14 rows with 2 threads Alpaca Bouclé = 10 x 10 cm.
CROCHET HOOK SIZE 6 mm - for crochet edge

WOOD BUTTON DUFFLE NO 520: 5 (6) pieces

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.

BUTTONHOLES:
K 3rd and 4th st from mid front tog, then make 1 YO. On next row K YO twisted to avoid the buttonhole being to large.

Cast off for buttonholes when piece measures:
Size 3/4 years: 10, 18, 26, 34 and 42 cm
Size 5/6 years: 13, 21, 29, 37 and 45 cm
Size 7/8 years: 13, 22, 30, 39 and 47 cm
Size 9/10 years: 13, 20, 28, 35, 43 and 50 cm.
Size 11/12 years: 13, 21, 29, 37, 45 and 53 cm.

BACK PIECE:
Cast on 41-44-47-50-53 sts (incl 1 edge st in each side) on needle size 9 mm with 2 threads Alpaca Bouclé. Work 2 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above.
Then continue in stocking st. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 11-12-12-13-14 cm, dec 1 st in each side, repeat dec when piece measures 22-24-25-26-28 cm = 37-40-43-46-49 sts. When piece measures 33-35-37-39-42 cm, cast off for armholes at the beg of every row in each side as follows: 3 sts 1 time and 1 st 0-1-2-3-4 times = 31-32-33-34-35 sts. When piece measures 46-49-52-55-59 cm, cast off the middle 5-6-7-8-9 sts for neck. Then cast off 1 st on next row towards the neck = 12 sts remain on each shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 48-51-54-57-61 cm.

LEFT FRONT PIECE:
Cast on 24-26-27-29-30 sts (incl 1 edge st in the side and 4 band sts towards mid front) on needle size 9 mm with 2 threads Alpaca Bouclé. Work 2 ridges, continue in stocking st with 4 band sts in garter st towards mid front until finished measurements. When piece measures 5-6-6-6-7 cm, dec 1 st in the side, repeat dec when piece measures 17-18-18-20-21 cm = 22-24-25-27-28 sts. When piece measures 33-35-37-39-42 cm, cast off for armhole in the side as on back piece = 19-20-20-21-21 sts. When piece measures 43-46-48-51-54 cm, slip the outermost 4-5-5-6-6 sts towards mid front on a stitch holder for neck (work them first). Then cast off at beg of every row from neck as follows: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 1 time = 12 sts remain on shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 48-51-54-57-61 cm.

RIGHT FRONT PIECE:
Cast on and work as left front piece but with cast off for armhole and neck in the opposite side. In addition cast off for BUTTONHOLES on band - see explanation above.

SLEEVE:
Cast on 20-22-22-24-24 sts (incl 1 edge st in each side) on needle size 9 mm with 2 threads Alpaca Bouclé. Work 1 ridge. Continue in stocking st back and forth until finished measurements. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 7 cm, inc 1 st in each side. Repeat inc every 4½-5½-5-5½-5 cm 4-4-5-5-6 more times = 30-32-34-36-38 sts. When sleeve measures 28-31-34-37-41 cm, cast off for sleeve cap at the beg of row in each side as follows: 3 sts 1 time, then cast off 2 sts until piece measures 31-35-39-43-48 cm and then 3 sts 1 time in each side. Piece measures approx. 32-36-40-44-49 cm, cast off the remaining sts.

HOOD:
Sew the shoulder seams. Knit up approx. 26 to 38 sts around the neck (incl sts on stitch holders at the front) on needle size 9 mm with 2 threads Alpaca Bouclé. K 1 row from WS, then K 1 row from RS while AT THE SAME TIME inc evenly to 40-42-44-46-48 sts. Continue in stocking st with 1 st in garter st in each side. When hood measures 28-29-30-31-32 cm, cast off all sts. Sew hood tog at the top.

CROCHET EDGE SLEEVE AND HOOD:
Work a finishing edge around the entire hood and at the bottom of sleeves on hook size 6 mm with 1 thread Puddel as follows:
ROW 1: 1 dc in first st, * 1 ch, skip approx. 1 cm, 1 dc in next st *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 dc in last st. Turn piece.
ROW 2: Work 1 ch and repeat from *-* as on previous row but work between dc from previous row so that the edge is double. Finish with 1 dc in last st. Make sure that the edge is neither too loose nor too tight.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams in one inside 1 edge st. Sew on buttons.

CROCHET EDGE JACKET:
Work 1 row in each of the 2 ridges worked at the bottom of jacket on hook size 6 mm with Puddel as follows: Work 1 dc in first st in garter st on band and continue to work along the ridges as follows: * 1 ch, skip 1 st and work 1 dc in next st *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 dc in last st towards band. Repeat on the other ridge. Make sure that the edge is neither too loose nor too tight.
