CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 7 mm (80 cm) - or size needed to get 10 sts x 14 rows in stocking st with Puddel = 10 x 10 cm. CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 8 mm (60 cm) - or size needed to get 11 sts x 15 rows in stocking st with Eskimo = 10 x 10 cm.
GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.
PATTERN: See diagram A.1, diagram shows 1 pattern repetition seen from RS.
DECREASE TIP: Dec 1 st on each side of marker as follows: Work until 2 sts remain before marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso, (marker), K tog the next 2 sts. ---------------------------------------------------------
PONCHO: Work front and back piece separately back and forth on circular needle until after splits in the sides.
FRONT PIECE: Loosely cast on 95-105-115 sts on circular needle size 8 mm with Eskimo. NOTE: Make sure that the cast on edge is not too tight. Work 2 rows in GARTER ST - see explanation above (1st row = RS). On next row from RS work as follows: 2 sts in garter st, work diagram A.1 9-10-11 times in total, finish with 1st st in A.1 (= P st seen from RS) and 2 sts in garter st. Work pattern with 2 sts in garter st in each side 1 time vertically. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! On next row from RS switch to Puddel and circular needle size 7 mm, K while AT THE SAME TIME dec 15 sts evenly on row = 80-90-100 sts. Continue with stocking st over the middle sts and continue with 2 sts in garter st in each side until piece measures 15-16-17 cm, put piece aside.
BACK PIECE: Cast on and work as on front piece.
BODY: Slip sts from front and back piece on to same circular needle size 7 mm = 160-180-200 sts. Insert 1 marker in each side in the transition between back and front piece, 1 marker in the middle of back piece and 1 marker in the middle of front piece = 4 markers, move them upwards when working. Work in stocking st in the round until piece measures 18-19-20 cm. On next round dec 1 st - READ DECREASE TIP - on each side of every marker (= 8 dec sts per dec). Repeat dec every 4 rounds 7-6-6 times in total, then every other round a total of 6-9-11 times = 56-60-64 sts remain. Continue in stocking st until piece measures approx. 48-51-54 cm. On next round switch to Eskimo and circular needle size 8 mm, K while AT THE SAME TIME inc 6 sts evenly on round = 62-66-70 sts. Now measure the piece from here. Continue in the round with stocking st and Eskimo until collar measures approx. 12 cm for all sizes. On next round loosely cast off all sts.
