STRAIGHT NEEDLES SIZE 4 mm – or size needed to get 18 sts in lace pattern = width 10 cm.
GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.
LACE PATTERN: See diagrams A-1 and A-2. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS. ----------------------------------------------------------
SHAWL: Worked back and forth on needle in 2 equal parts and sewn tog mid back when finished. LOOSELY cast on 99 sts on needle size 4 mm with Vivaldi. Work first row as follows (from RS): K 13, * slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K 11 *, repeat from *-* until 2 sts remain, K these sts = 87 sts on needle. K 3 rows back and forth over all sts. Continue with A-1 as follows: Diagram a over the first 20 sts, diagram b 4 times in breadth and then diagram c over the last 19 sts. When A-1 has been worked 1 time vertically, continue with A-2 the same way. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Repeat A-2 upwards until piece measures approx. 85 cm – adjust so that last row worked is one of the rows marked with 1 arrow in diagram. Slip the sts on a stitch holder. Knit another part the same way.
Sew the 2 parts tog with grafting/kitchener sts to make the seam invisible.
