Knitted stockings with lace pattern



Size: 35/37 - 38/40 - 41/43
Foot length: 22 - 24 - 27 cm
Leg length: 45-48-50 cm
Materials:150 g for all sizes in colour off white

DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 2.5 mm - or size needed to get 26 sts x 34 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm.

2 meters off white silk ribbon 5 mm in width.

PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2, diagrams are seen from RS.

HEEL DECREASE: Row 1 (= RS): Work until 7 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece.
Row 2 (= WS): Work until 7 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece.
Row 3 (= RS): Work until 6 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece.
Row 4 (= WS): Work until 6 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece.
Continue dec like this with 1 less st before each dec until there are 15 sts on needle.

STOCKING:
Worked in the round on double pointed needles.
Cast on 90-100-110 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with Fabel. K 1 round and P 1 round. Then work A.1 one time vertically, when A.1 has been worked, there are 72-80-88 sts on needle. K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME dec 3-5-7 sts evenly = 69-75-81 sts. Continue as follows: * K 8, A.2 *, repeat from *-* 3 times, * K 3, A.2 *, repeat from *-* 6-7-8 times. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
When piece measures 12 cm, dec 1 st in each of the K-sections with 8 K sts (K the first 2 tog), repeat dec every 5 cm 4 more times (5 dec rounds in total) = 54-60-66 sts. Continue to work with K 3, A.2 until piece measures approx. 40-42-44 cm. Now keep the first 21 sts on needle for heel, slip the next 27-33-39 sts on a stitch holder (= mid on top of foot) and keep the last 6 sts on needle for heel.
Work in stocking st and A.2 over heel sts for 5-5½-6 cm (NOTE: When 2 rows remain before heel measures 5-5½-6 cm, work in stocking st over all heel sts). Insert 1 marker. Then work HEEL DECREASE - see explanation above.
After heel dec, knit up 14-14-15 sts along each side of heel and slip the 27-33-39 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 70-76-84 sts. Insert 1 marker on each side of the 27-33-39 sts on top of foot. Continue with pattern as before on top of foot and in stocking st under foot, AT THE SAME TIME dec in each side as follows: K tog the last 2 sts BEFORE first marker on top of foot twisted (i.e. work in the back loop of st instead of front) and K tog the first 2 sts AFTER last marker on upper foot. Repeat dec every other round 8-8-10 more times (9-9-11 dec rounds in total) = 52-58-62 sts. Continue until piece measures 18-20-22 cm from marker on heel (= approx. 4-4-5 cm remain). Insert 1 marker in each side so that there are 26-29-31 sts both on top of foot and under foot. Now continue to work in stocking st over all sts while AT THE SAME TIME dec for toe on each side of both markers as follows: Before marker: K 2 tog.
After marker: K 2 twisted tog (i.e. work in back loop of st instead of front).
Dec every other round a total of 5-6-7 times and then every round 5-4-4 times = 12-18-18 sts remain on needle. Cut the thread and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten.

Thread a silk ribbon in the round with eyelet holes at the top of stocking and tie a bow.
Knit another stocking.
