30700 (Tangerine) 2(2-2-2) balls
Size 3.75 mm (U.S. 5) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. 3 st holders. 4 buttons.

GAUGE
22½ sts and 44 rows = 4 ins in garter st.


INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).

Right or Left Front (make alike, working buttonholes on Left Front for Boy or Right Front for Girl)
Cast on 38 (40-44-48) sts. Work in garter st (knit every row) for 2½ (3-3½-3½) ins .
** Next row: (Buttonhole row). Place marker for front edge. K3. Cast off 2 sts. K16 (16-22-24). Cast off 2 sts. Knit to end of row.
Next row: Knit, casting on 2 sts over cast off sts.**
Work in garter st for a further 2 (2-2½-3) ins , ending at opposite edge to front marker.

Shape armhole: Next row: Cast off 5 (6-7-8) sts. Knit to end of row. 33 (34-37-40) sts. Cont even until armhole measures 1 inch , ending at edge for front marker.
Rep from ** to ** as given above.
Cont even until armhole measures 4¾ (5-5-5½) ins , ending at opposite edge to front marker.
Shoulder: Next row: Cast off 9 (9-10-10) sts. Knit to end of row.
Leave rem 24 (25-27-30) sts on a st holder.

Back: Cast on 55 (58-63-67) sts. Work in garter st until Back measures same length as Front before armhole shaping.

Shape armholes: Cast off 5 (6-7-8) sts beg next 2 rows. 45 (46-49-51) sts. Cont even until Back measures same length as Front before shoulder.

Shoulders: Cast off 9 (9-10-10) sts beg next 2 rows. Leave rem 27 (28-29-31) sts on a st holder.

Sleeves: Cast on 33 (35-39-39) sts. Work in garter st, inc 1 st each end of needle on 5th and every following 8th row to 51 (55-55-61) sts. Cont even until Sleeve measures 8 (9-9½-10) ins , ending with a RS row. Cast off. Place markers along side edges 1¼ (1½-1½-1¾) ins down from cast off edge.

FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves, placing rows above markers along cast off sts of armhole edges to form square armholes.

Hood: With WS of work facing, K75 (78-83-91) from st holders. Proceed in garter st, inc 10 sts evenly across first row. 85 (88-93-101) sts. Cont even until work from pick up row measures 7 ins , ending with a RS row. Cast off.
Sew top seam. Sew buttons to correspond with buttonholes on Left Front for Girl or Right Front for Boyy.lor
