gent hat with Nordic pattern in stocking st
Size: S/M - M/L Fit head circumference: approx 52/54 - 56/58 cm
Materials:100 g for both sizes navy blue 50 g for both sizes light blue50 g for both sizes off white
DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES and CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm) SIZE 4 mm - or size needed to get 21 sts x 28 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm. CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 3.5 mm (40 cm) - for rib.
PATTERN: See diagram M.1 (= 31 sts). Pattern is worked in stocking st.
DECREASING TIP: Dec 2 sts before marker: slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso. Dec after marker: K2 tog. --------------------------------------------------------
HAT: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 120-132 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm with navy blue. Work rib K2/P2. When piece measures 5 cm change to light blue. K 1 round and AT THE SAME TIME dec 21-24 sts evenly = 99-108 sts. P 1 round. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and navy blue. K 1 round. On next round work in PATTERN - see explanation above - as follows: * M.1, K2-5 sts in navy blue *, repeat *-* a total of 3 times. Continue in pattern as established. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When M.1 is finished K 1 round (continue in navy blue), AT THE SAME TIME dec 4-3 sts evenly = 95-105 sts. Piece now measures approx 17-17 cm. Place 5 markers in piece with 19-21 sts between each marker. Continue in stocking st. When piece measures 18-19 cm dec 1 st on each side of every marker – SEE DECREASING TIP! Repeat dec on every other row a total of 8-9 times = 15-15 sts left. Pull thread through all sts and tighten tog. Weave in ends. Piece measures approx 23-25 cm.
