DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES and CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm) SIZE 3.5 mm - or size needed to get 22 sts x 30 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm. CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm) SIZE 2.5 mm – for rib.

HAT: Worked in the round on circular needle and then on double pointed needles. Cast on 128 sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm with off white. Work rib = K 2/P 2 for 3 cm. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm. K 1 round while at the same time dec 8 sts evenly = 120 sts. Then work diagram M.1, then diagram M.2. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When diagram M.2 has been worked, there are 32 sts on needle and piece measures approx. 23 cm vertically. Work with off white until finished. First work 1 round as follows: * K 2, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 24 sts. On next round, K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 12 sts. Cut the thread and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. The hat measures approx. 24 cm vertically.
