Knitted cover for pouf with cables and lace pattern
Measurements: The cover fits a rectangular pouf that is approx. 38 cm along all sides. The cover is worked approx. 10% less in width to stretch it on the pouf, therefore it must be worked approx. 10% longer in length to avoid it being too short when used. Materials: 550 g colour no 48, beige
DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES AND CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 and 80 cm) SIZE 8 mm - or size needed to get 11 sts x 15 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm.
PATTERN: See diagrams A-1 and A-2. NOTE: Note that the YOs are worked differently, see explanation in diagram text. ----------------------------------------------------------
COVER: Worked in the round (on double pointed needles and then on circular needle) from the centre and outwards. Then work down each side, side seams are sewn tog when finished.
Cast on 12 sts on double pointed needles size 8 mm with Eskimo and distribute them with 3 sts on every needle. Work in the round according to diagram A-1 (= 4 repetitions). When A-1 has been worked, there are 172 sts on needle.
FIRST SIDE: Keep the first 43 sts on needle and slip the other sts on a stitch holder. NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! Continue with A-2. When piece measures approx. 39 cm – adjust after 1 whole repetition of A-2 – work next row as follows from WS: K 9, K 2 tog, K 2 tog, K 2 tog (i.e. dec 3 sts over cable), K 13, K 2 tog, K 2 tog, K 2 tog, K 9 = 37 sts. Then K 2 rows back and forth before casting off with K.
SECOND SIDE: Slip the next 43 sts from stitch holder back on needle and work as first side, make sure to work exactly the same no of rows as on first side.
THIRD SIDE: Slip the next 43 sts from stitch holder back on needle and work as first side.
FOURTH SIDE: Slip the last 43 sts from stitch holder back on needle and work as first side.
ASSEMBLY: Sew the sides tog edge to edge in front loop of outermost st – sew from RS, it is important to sew st against st to avoid a visible and chunky seam. Thread the cast on thread down the centre of the cover, up and down through sts around the opening, tighten tog and fasten.
