Measurements: The cover fits a rectangular pouf that is approx. 38 cm along all sides. The cover is worked approx. 10% less in width so that it stretches on the pouf, therefore it must be worked approx. 10% longer in length to avoid it being too short when used. DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE (80 cm) SIZE 4 mm - or size needed to get 21 sts x 42 rows in garter st = 10 x 10 cm.
POUF COVER:
SQUARE (= top of cover): Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 3 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with candy. READ THE ENTIRE PATTERN BEFORE BEGINNING TO KNIT. * K 2 rows with candy, then K 2 rows with red/orange *, repeat from *-* while at the same time inc at beg of every row by working 2 sts in first st. When piece measures approx. 25 cm on the middle, from cast on edge up to needle (there are approx. 108 sts on needle), beg dec. Continue with stripes as before while AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st at beg of every row by K 2 tog. Work until 3 sts remain, cast off these sts.
SIDES OF COVER: K 2 rows with candy and K 2 rows with red/orange alternately as on square. Cast on 80 sts on needle size 4 mm with candy. * Work 1 row over all sts (= from RS). Work next row as follows (from WS): Pick up the outermost st of the 3 sts cast on at the bottom in the corner on the square, work first st from left needle, pass the new st over, work the rest of row *. Repeat from *-* until 1 st has been knitted up in every ridge (1 ridge = 2 rows K) along one side on square. Continue the same way along all 4 sides on the squares. Sew cast on edge against cast off edge, sew edge to edge to avoid a chunky seam.
