Knitted cover for glass vases with stripes and zigzag pattern
Fit glass vases with the following dimensions: Circumference: approx. 44 - 57 cm Height: approx. 15 - 20 cm The cover is worked approx. 10% shorter than the circumference around the vase, this is because the cover is stretched when it is used to fit tightly.
Materials: 50-50 g colour no 543, red/orange 50-50 g colour no 901, candy
STRAIGHT NEEDLES SIZE 3.5 mm – or size needed to get 30 sts with zigzag pattern = width 10 cm.
GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.
PATTERN: See diagram A-1, diagram shows 1 repetition of pattern from RS.
STRIPES: Work alternately 2 rows with red/orange and 2 rows with candy. ----------------------------------------------------------
GLASS VASE COVER: Worked back and forth on needle. LOOSELY cast on 34-50 sts on needle size 3.5 mm with red/orange. Work as follows (1st row = RS): 1 st in GARTER ST – see explanation above, diagram A-1 over the next 32-48 sts and 1 st in garter st. Continue like this - while at the same time working STRIPES - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Work until piece measures approx. 40-52 cm - adjust after 1 row from RS with candy, then cast off with K from WS. Sew cast on edge against cast off edge – sew edge to edge, st against st to avoid a visible seam.
