Crochet shawl with lace pattern
Measurements: approx. 66 cm in the middle vertically
Materials:250 g colour white
CROCHET HOOK SIZE 3.5 mm - or size needed to get row 1 to 7 in diagram A.1 to measure approx. 7 cm vertically.
PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. A.1 shows beg of shawl, A.2A shows beg of row in A.2, A.2B shows A.2 in the middle of shawl, A.2C shows end of row in A.2, and A.3 shows finishing edge.
PATTERN A.2: ROW 1: See diagram A.2: Work 5 ch, 1 TR-GROUP - read explanation below - in 1st ch-loop, * 2 ch, 1 tr in next ch-loop, 2 ch, 1 tr-group in next ch-loop *, repeat from *-* the entire row - but in ch-loop in the middle (= triangle in diagram) work TR-GROUP IN THE MIDDLE - read explanation below, finish with 2 ch and 1 tr in last ch-loop, turn piece. ROW 2: Work 5 ch, 1 tr-group in 1st ch-loop, * 2 ch, 1 tr in ch-loop on next tr-group, 2 ch, 1 tr-group in next tr *, repeat from *-* until tr-group in the middle, work 2 ch, 1 tr in next ch-loop, 2 ch, in next ch-loop (= 1st ch-loop on tr-group in the middle) work 1 tr-group, 2 ch, 1 tr-group in next ch-loop (= 2nd ch-loop on tr-group in the middle), then work 2 ch, 1 tr in next ch-loop, 2 ch, 1 tr-group in next tr, repeat from *-* the entire row, finish with 2 ch and 1 tr in last ch-loop, turn piece. ROW 3: Work 5 ch, 1 tr-group in 1st ch-loop, * 2 ch, 1 tr in ch-loop on next tr-group, 2 ch, 1 tr-group in next tr *, repeat from *-* the entire row, finish with 2 ch and 1 tr in last ch-loop, turn piece. ROW 4: Work the same way as on ROW 3 - but in ch-loop on the middle tr-group work 1 tr-group instead of 1 tr. ROW 5: Work 5 ch, 1 tr-group in 1st ch-loop, * 2 ch, 1 tr in ch-loop on next tr-group, 2 ch, 1 tr-group in next tr *, repeat from *-* the entire row - but in ch-loop in the middle work tr-group in the middle, finish with 2 ch and 1 tr in last ch-loop, turn piece. Repeat ROW 2 to 5 upwards.
TR-GROUP: 1 tr-group = in same ch-loop/tr work 2 tr, 2 ch and 2 tr.
TR-GROUP IN THE MIDDLE: 1 tr-group in the middle of shawl = in same ch-loop work 2 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr, 2 ch and 2 tr.
PATTERN A.3: ROW 1: Work 1 ch, 1 dc in 1st ch-loop, 3 ch, 1 dc in same ch-loop (= 2 dc in 1st ch-loop), * 3 ch, 1 dc in next ch-loop *. Repeat from *-* the entire row - see diagram A.3, finish with 3 ch and 1 dc in last ch-loop (= 2 dc in last ch-loop), turn piece. ROW 2: Work 1 ch, 1 dc in 1st ch-loop, 4 ch, 1 dc in same ch-loop (= 2 dc in 1st ch-loop), * 4 ch, 1 dc in next ch-loop *, repeat from *-* the entire row, finish with 4 ch and 1 dc in last ch-loop (= 2 dc in last ch-loop), turn piece. ROW 3: Work 1 ch, 1 dc in 1st ch-loop, 5 ch, 1 dc in same ch-loop (= 2 dc in 1st ch-loop), * 5 ch, 1 dc in next ch-loop *, repeat from *-* the entire row, finish with 5 ch and 1 dc in last ch-loop (= 2 dc in last ch-loop), turn piece. ROW 4: Work 1 ch, in every ch-loop on row work as follows: 2 dc in ch-loop, 1 PICOT - read explanation below, 2 dc in same ch-loop.
PICOT: 1 picot = 3 ch, 1 dc in 3rd ch from hook. ----------------------------------------------------------
SHAWL: Worked back and forth from mid back of neck. Work 5 ch with Safran on hook size 3.5 mm and form a ring with 1 sl st in 1st ch. ROW 1: See diagram A.1 - Work 6 ch, 1 dc in ch-ring, 4 ch, 1 dc in ch-ring, finish with 3 ch and 1 tr in ch-ring = 3 ch-loops, turn piece. ROW 2: Work 6 ch, 1 dc in 1st ch-loop, 4 ch, 1 dc in next ch-loop, 4 ch, 1 dc in same ch-loop (= middle), 4 ch, 1 dc in last ch-loop, finish with 3 ch and 1 tr in same ch-loop = 2 ch-loops on each side of ch-loop in the middle (5 ch-loops in total), turn piece. ROW 3: Work 6 ch, 1 dc in 1st ch-loop, * 4 ch, 1 dc in next ch-loop *, repeat from *-* 1 more time, 4 ch, 1 dc in same ch-loop (= middle), repeat from *-* 2 more times, finish with 3 ch and 1 tr in last ch-loop = 3 ch-loops on each side of ch-loop in the middle (7 ch-loops in total), turn piece. ROW 4: Work as ROW 3 but repeat from *-* 1 extra time in each side = 4 ch-loops on each side of ch-loop in the middle (= triangle in diagram, 9 ch-loops in total), turn piece. Then work every row as ROW 3 but repeat from *-* 1 extra time in each side = 2 ch-loops inc on every row. When piece measures approx. 32 cm in the middle vertically - NOTE: Make sure that the last row has an even number of ch-loops on each side of ch-loop in the middle - then work in diagram A.2 - See diagram A.2 and read explanation above. When piece measures approx. 62 cm in the middle, work diagram A.3 1 time vertically - read explanation above and see diagram A.3. Cut and fasten the thread. Piece measures approx. 66 cm in the middle vertically.
