HAT:
Size: 3/5 - 6/9 - 10/12 years
Head circumference: 48/50 - 50/52 - 52/54
Materials: 200 g for all sizes in colour wild berries

DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 5 mm - or size needed to get 17 sts x 22 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm.
DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES and CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm) SIZE 4.5 mm - for garter st.

NECK WARMER:
Size: 3/5 – 6/9 – 10/14 years
Materials: 100-100-100 g colour dark turquoise

CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm) SIZE 5 mm - or size needed to get 17 sts x 22 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm.
DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 4.5 mm – for rib

GARTER ST (in the round on circular needle/double pointed needles):
1 ridge = 2 rounds * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.

HAT:
The piece is worked top down. Cast on 6-6-8 sts and distribute them on 3 double pointed needles size 5 mm with Big Fabel, let the thread end be approx. 10 cm for assembly. Work 2 sts in every st the entire round = 12-12-16 sts. Distribute sts on 4 double pointed needles. K 1 round, insert 6-6-8 markers in the piece, 2 sts apart. Then work in stocking st while AT THE SAME TIME on 1st round inc by working 2 sts in same st in the first st after every marker (= 6-6-8 sts inc). Repeat inc every 2nd-2nd-3rd round 9-10-8 more times = 72-78-88 sts (= 12-13-11 sts between every marker). Switch to circular needle size 4.5 mm and continue in GARTER ST in the round - see explanation above, until piece measures 12-13-13 cm from last inc. Finish after 1 round P. Work next round as follows: K 25-28-32, cast off the next 21-23-24 sts (= mid front) and K the remaining 26-27-32 sts, beg of round = mid back. Cut the thread, now work back and forth over the 51-55-64 sts on needle - beg with 1 row K from WS. On next row (= RS) K tog the first 2 sts and K tog the last 2 sts = 49-53-62 sts remain. K 1 row from WS. Work next row as follows from RS: Work 16-17-21 sts (= ear flap), and slip these sts on a stitch holder, cast off the next 17-19-20 sts (= mid back) and work the remaining 16-17-21 sts (= ear flap). Insert a marker. Then work in garter st back and forth over ear flap until ear flap measures approx. 2-2-2.5 cm from marker. Dec 1 st inside 1 edge st in each side by working 2 sts tog, repeat every 4th row 2-2-2 more times and then every other row 3-3-4 times = 4-5-5 sts remain, ear flap measures approx. 7-7-8 cm. Loosely cast off and fasten the thread. Work the other ear flap the same way. Use a needle and baste the thread end at the top of hat up and down through the opening, tighten tog and fasten.

POMPOM:
Make 1 pompom with Big Fabel with an approx. diameter of 8 cm. Sew the pompom on the top of the hat.

NECK WARMER:
Cast on at the bottom of front piece, cast off at the bottom of back piece, the collar is worked at the end.

FRONT PIECE: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 38-41-44 sts on circular needle size 5 mm with Alaska. Work 4 rows in garter st, continue in stocking st with 2 sts in garter st in each side. When piece measures 7-9-10 cm, cast off the middle 12-15-16 sts for neck. Finish each shoulder piece separately.
1st shoulder piece: = 13-13-14 sts. Continue in stocking st with 2 sts in garter st towards the shoulder - at the same time cast off towards the neck every row from neck: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 2 times = 6-6-7 sts remain on shoulder. When piece measures 11-13-15 cm, insert a marker (= mid on top of shoulder) - now measures piece from here. On next row cast on 2 new sts towards the neck, then slip sts on a stitch holder.
2nd shoulder piece: As 1st shoulder piece.

BACK PIECE: Slip sts from one shoulder back on needle, cast on 22-25-26 sts and slip sts from the other shoulder on to needle = 38-41-44 sts. Continue in stocking st with 2 sts in garter st in each side. When piece measures 10-12-14 cm, work 4 rows in garter st over all sts before casting off.

COLLAR: Knit up approx. 60 to 68 sts around the neck on double pointed needles size 4.5 mm. P 1 round and K 1 round, continue in rib = K 1/P 1. When neck measures approx. 7-8-9 cm, cast off with K over K and P over P.
