Knitted head band in rib with crochet flowers



Size: 3/5 - 6/8 - 9/12 years
Head circumference: 47/49 - 50/52 - 53/55 cm
Materials:50 g for all sizes sunset

STRAIGHT NEEDLES SIZE 2.5 mm - or size needed to get 26 sts x 35 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm.
CROCHET HOOK size 2.5 mm.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows.

INCREASE TIP:
Inc on each side of all rib sts (= 18-22-26 sts) by making 1 YO. On next row K YOs twisted to avoid holes (i.e. work in back loop of st instead of front). Work the inc sts in garter st.

DECREASE TIP:
Dec on each side of all rib sts (= 18-22-26 sts) by K 2 tog.

HEAD BAND:
Worked back and forth on needle and sewn tog mid back when finished.
Cast on 22-26-30 sts on needles size 2.5 mm with Fabel. Work as follows (seen from from RS): 2 sts in GARTER ST - see explanation above - * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* until 4 sts remain, K 2 and 2 sts in garter st. When piece measures 4-5-6 cm, inc 1 st in each side - READ INCREASE TIP. Repeat inc every 10th row a total of 6 times = 34-38-42 sts. There are now 8 sts in garter st in each side. When piece measures 24-26-28 cm, dec 1 st in each side - SEE DECREASE TIP! Repeat dec every 10th row a total of 6 times = 22-26-30 sts. Continue to work until piece measures 42-45-48 cm, cast off with K over K and P over P.

CROCHET FLOWERS:
Crochet 5 ch on hook size 2.5 mm with Fabel and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: 2 ch (= 1 htr), 1 htr in ch-ring, * 5 ch, 2 htr in ch-ring *, repeat from *-* a total of 6 times and finish with 5 ch and 1 sl st in 2nd ch from beg of round = 7 ch-loops with 2 htr between each.
ROUND 2: * 9 htr in ch-loop, 1 dc between the 2 htr before next ch-loop *, repeat from *-* in every ch-loop.
Cut and fasten the thread. Work a total of 3 flowers like this.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew the head band tog mid back and sew the flowers on the front.
