Knitted hat in moss st with rib

Size: 1/3 - 6/9 - 12/18 months (2 - 3/4) years Head circumference: approx 40/42 - 44/46 - 46/48 (48/50 - 50/52) cm. Materials: 50-50-50 (100-100) g colour no 01, off-white
DOUBLE POINTED AND CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm) size 4 mm – or size needed to get 21 sts x 28 rows in moss st = 10 x 10 cm. CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm) size 3.5 mm – for rib.
MOSS ST: Round 1:* K1, P1 *, repeat from *-*. Round 2: P over K and K over P. Repeat row 2.
DECREASING TIP: Dec as follows before marker: K2 tog. Dec as follows after marker: Slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 88-92-96 (100-108) sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm with Merino Extra Fine. K 1 round and continue in rib, K2/P2. When piece measures 3 cm K 1 round, AT THE SAME TIME dec 8-12-6 (10-8) sts evenly = 80-80-90 (90-100) sts. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and insert 5 markers in piece with 16-16-18 (18-20) sts between each marker. P 1 round, K 1 round and continue in moss st – SEE ABOVE. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 10-11-11 (12-12) cm dec 1 st on each side of all markers – SEE DECREASING TIP, and repeat the dec on every other round a total of 6-6-7 (7-8) times = 20 sts left on round. NOTE: change to double pointed needles when sts no longer fit circular needle. Piece now measures approx 14-15-16 (17-18) cm. K2 tog all the way round, cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten.
